Crackdown 3 is an upcoming open world action-adventure game that is developed by Reagent Games and Sumo Digital in collaboration with David Jones. The game is published by Microsoft Studio and it is scheduled to release on November 7th, 2017, for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox One. Seven years since the release of Crackdown 2 for the Xbox 360, Crackdown 3 is going to continue the series with big emphasis on being able to destroy everything in the game. Sounds like fun!
As seen on the gameplay demos that were shown at this year’s E3, Crackdown 3 will follow the same formula as its predecessors. The game puts you in a role of a futuristic policeman with a powered armor suit and futuristic weapons.
The core gameplay revolves around the player running around the open-world city and pick up missions, and disrupt the local gangs. Each of the gangs has their own color and they control specific areas of the city that are marked on the map. To purge that area of gang members, the player needs to rush in with guns blazing and eliminate them.
Crackdown 3 also comes with a multiplayer mode that lets the player team up with other supercops online to destroy the city in its entirety while killing the gang members.
So far, Crackdown 3 comes with plenty of confirmed features. The most notable feature of Crackdown 3 is the ability to destroy everything. The amount of detail of the demolition has never been that good in any game before. The player can shoot a whole through a wall with his gun, or he can destroy a whole floor of a building and watch the debris fall on the streets. The only drawback is that this level of destruction is only available in multiplayer mode as most of the rendering is done by cloud-based computing. Singleplayer and co-op will retain a limited access to destruction.
Another big feature is that the whole city will respond to the player’s actions. As the player destroys enemy outposts, the remaining ones will be reinforced thus making them harder to destroy.
Sumo Digital also noted that the player will be able to explore the entire city and go wherever he wants right from the start of the game. Even the game’s story is free to be tackled in no particular order. The game will have the main villain, but Sumo Digital did not give any hint at the E3 presentation.
Last but not least, the co-op campaign can be played with up to four players. The progress in the campaign will only apply for one player, but if all of the players continue to play with the same group, it won’t matter as long as the same person is the host each time.
