There are have been various inventions and discoveries in the field of biotechnology and cyber-technology which have led to the development of “augmentations” – devices that grant the wearer with special abilities and enhancing the durability and performance of the human body. This technology has created a divide in people, where the users of the augmentations are hailed as the future of humanity, while non-users form the majority of the lower class. The tensions between these two factions have been surfacing for quite a while, and then it tips over. Now Adam Jensen, an agent from the Sarif industries, must work to cease the conflict between the people while unraveling the secrets of some of the world’s biggest mysteries.
Human Revolution is an action role-playing game that masterfully incorporates elements of first-person shooter and stealth in it. It allows players freedom in that the majority of the events in the game are up to the player to initiate and react to. This freedom of choice is also extended tin the gameplay. Player must use guns to blaze through crowds of enemies or they may take a silent approach and attempt to reach their destination without using violence at all. All these options are in the player’s hands. NPCs in the game can be conversed with, and they provide relevant information regarding the main mission or provide the player with side missions, which can be completed to earn extra Credits (the currency in-game). These Credits can be sold to black market vendors to buy supplies and weapons.
Augmentations in Adam’s body provide him with various superhuman abilities. Some of these abilities are passive, like damage resistance, while others are active, and work only when Adam has a certain amount of energy in him, which can be refilled periodically or by eating food. Also present in the game are a wide variety of weapons, all of which can be modified or customized depending on the player’s choice.
Human Revolution follows on its predecessors’ path and provides the user with an enhanced sense of control, now extending to even NPC dialogues. With amazing detailed graphics and cleverly designed gameplay mechanics, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is rightfully called a masterpiece and is one of the most loved games of all time. A spin-off titled Deus Ex: The Fall and a direct sequel to the game titled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided have been released.
