Vampyr is an upcoming video game set to release in November 2017. It is developed by Dontrod Entertainment and published by Focus Home Interactive. It runs on the platforms of Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. It is an action role-playing game available to play in single-player mode.

The plot of the game follows the character Jonathan Reid who is a vampire and a doctor. Being a doctor, he is sworn under the Hippocratic Oath to save people’s lives. However, this job of his is very much in conflict with his bloodthirsty nature with the thirst to kill people. The storyline of the game is highly based on the London Spanish Flu Pandemic that took place in the year 1918.

The gameplay is an action role-playing game and is written and played from a third person perspective. His vampire nature obliges him to kill innocent people. In order to perform this successfully, he studies his targets very closely and gather information about them, make them change their habits, collect clues, and maintain relationships with some inhabitants of the area. The environment’s structure, which is the London neighborhood, is a semi-open world. It is built around other hubs of the neighborhood and tethered within interlinking areas.

There are many ways and possibilities to play and finish the fame. Each having their own certain experience and characteristics. There is a total of four major endings to the game. The player has the decision over some conversation dialogues done by Jonathan Reid and the human inhabitants.  It is even possible for the player to finish the game without killing a single human being. However, this entails his incapability to ever level up. The player can also decide for Jonathan Reid to just target anyone in the environment. However, this could also come with repercussions because it greatly affects the lives of the citizens of London. These decisions add up to different ways to end the game.

Some game features include the Skill Tree. This showcases the improvement in each of Jonathan Reid’s skills. In order to advance through this, the player must be able to collect experience points. This can be gained from various activities most of which are from gathering blood and investigating. There is also the ‘mesmerise’ ability that helps the player identify weaker target’s behaviors in order to target them and gain experience points. Being a vampire, Jonathan Reid features a lot of vampiric powers including turning other people into vampires, detect blood, etc. which is further improved or added by feeding on human blood.

If it has come to the point that Reid has to use combat in killing people failing to use his vampiric powers of coercion and detection, he also has weapons to use. These usually come in improvised melee weapons such as a saw or a ranged weapon such as the Webley Revolver. There are other vampires that are present in the game and he will fight against them in some instances. There is a secret society of vampire slayers Reid has to watch out for and Vulkods who strongly resemble werewolves.
